Apo C-II supports lipoprotein lipase

Apo C-II supports lipoprotein lipase
Without working ApoC-II, triglyceride-rich particles can't be emptied and pile up in the blood; rare inherited deficiencies cause extremely high triglycerides from childhood.
A low level is uncommon. A true inherited deficiency causes very high triglycerides and a risk of pancreatitis, and is managed by specialists.
A raised level usually reflects having more triglyceride-rich particles, as with high triglycerides, obesity or diabetes, rather than a problem in itself.
ApoC-II follows triglycerides, so the steps that lower triglycerides bring it down too: less sugar and alcohol, weight loss and regular exercise.
